It helps to include your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings › General › About).

Common questions

How do I open and close the compact?

Drag the lid down to close it and flick it up to open it. You can also tap the closed lid. On a folding iPhone, fold and unfold the phone itself and the lid follows the hinge.

The mirror is black, or says it needs the camera

Snap Shut needs camera access to show the mirror. Go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera and turn Snap Shut on, then open the app again.

How do I switch to the back camera?

Tap the camera switch next to the light button at the bottom of the palette.

The lipstick and blush aren't showing

Face makeup works best with your whole face in the mirror, in good light, looking at the screen. Try the mirror light button, or move somewhere brighter. Not every look adds makeup; some only change the colour.

How do I save a photo?

Tap the shutter in the middle. When the share sheet opens, choose Save Image. If iOS asks, allow Snap Shut to add photos. You can change this later in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.

How do I change the case colour?

Tap the round swatch at the bottom right of the palette, or open Settings (the gear) and choose Finish.

Can I turn off the sounds, haptics or Dynamic Island messages?

Yes. Open Settings (the gear) and use the switches under Make it yours.

Does Snap Shut collect my data?

No. Everything happens on your phone and nothing is uploaded. The privacy policy has the details.

Which iPhones does it work on?

Snap Shut works on any iPhone that runs the current version of iOS. On a folding iPhone it uses the real hinge.
